What Are Custom Statuses? 

Custom Statuses in Punchlist give you the flexibility to organize your project’s feedback in a way that fits exactly how your team works. Say goodbye to generic labels—now you can create status columns tailored specifically to your team’s workflow, making task management clearer and more intuitive.

Project managers, workspace owners, and team members across all industries—from construction and architecture to interior design and creative agencies—will appreciate the ability to customize statuses. This feature empowers you to speak your team’s language and manage tasks more effectively.

Key Features

  • Fully Customizable: Create statuses that match your unique workflow, such as “Ready for Markup” or “Awaiting Client Review.”
  • Visual Clarity: Choose distinct colors for each custom status, enhancing visual clarity at a glance.
  • Workspace-Wide Consistency: Custom statuses are applied workspace-wide, ensuring uniformity across your team’s projects.
  • Flexibility and Control: When custom statuses are active, you have the ability to create up to 8 custom statuses applied across your entire workspace. Easily edit statuses as needed, just keep in mind that changes affect all projects in your workspace.

How It Works

1. Enable Custom Statuses:

  • From the lefthand sidebar, go to your Workspace Settings then Default Project Settings.
  • Toggle the Custom Statuses feature on.

2. Create Your Statuses:

  • Define your custom statuses by naming and selecting colors for each one.
  • Once enabled, your new custom statuses replace the existing default statuses. All feedback items automatically default to your first custom status.

3. Manage Your Statuses:

  • Customize and reorganize statuses as needed. If you delete a status, any associated items default to your first status column.

  • Construction Teams: Clearly organize tasks with statuses like “Ready for Markup,” “Waiting for Architect,” or “Site Review.”
  • Design Agencies: Streamline client approvals with statuses such as “Client Review,” “Revisions Needed,” and “Final Approval.”
  • Interior Designers: Ensure design projects stay on track with statuses tailored to phases like “Client Selection,” “Material Ordered,” or “Installation.”
